Pearl 500 Student Flute
The Pearl 500 Student Flute is an entry-level model from Pearl’s Quantz range, designed to give beginning players an easy response, reliable mechanism and the build quality for which Pearl flutes are known. Pearl describes the 500 as having a bright, easy-to-play sound, making it particularly suitable for a developing player.
Pearl’s Professional-Style Mechanism
One of the features that sets the Pearl 500 apart from many student flutes is that it incorporates two of Pearl’s signature mechanical designs: the Pinless Mechanism and One-Piece Core-Bar. These features are designed to improve the reliability and durability of the mechanism and are used across Pearl’s flute range.
For a student instrument, we consider this particularly valuable. A beginner flute needs to be easy to play, but it also needs keywork that will stand up to regular lessons, practice and school use.
Designed for the Beginner
The Pearl 500 has a silver-plated nickel-silver construction, closed-hole keys, an offset G and C footjoint. Its closed-hole configuration and comfortable key layout make it well suited to players starting their flute journey.
The nickel-silver construction also contributes to the flute’s bright response, while the silver plating provides the traditional appearance of a silver flute and protects the underlying material.
Why Consider a Pearl Student Flute?
At Tempest Music, Pearl is one of the student flute brands we particularly like to have families compare. The combination of easy response, well-designed keywork and Pearl’s distinctive mechanism makes the Pearl 500 a strong first-flute option.
However, no student flute is automatically the best choice for every player. We recommend comparing the Pearl with other quality student flutes within your budget and seeing which instrument allows the individual student to produce their sound most easily.
