About Fran Tempest
"I believe helping a musician choose the right instrument is about much more than making a sale. It's about guiding, explaining, teaching and supporting them throughout their musical journey."
Fran’s philosophy has always been that choosing the right instrument is about much more than making a purchase. It’s about finding an instrument that inspires confidence, encourages progress and helps every musician discover their own sound.
Fran studied bassoon at the Elder Conservatorium under Thomas Wightman before continuing her studies with John Cran as a member of the ABC National Training Orchestra. She later performed as a freelance bassoonist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Elizabethan Trust Sydney Orchestra.
Returning to Perth in 1978, Fran was appointed Principal Bassoon with the WA Arts Orchestra and worked regularly with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. Alongside her performing career, she taught bassoon for many years, helping students develop into accomplished musicians, including many who went on to perform professionally.
Today, that same passion continues at Tempest Music.
