The Oscar Adler 1357 is an excellent choice for the advancing bassoonist ready to move beyond a student instrument. Designed for intermediate players, it offers the greater tonal depth, response and control needed as repertoire and ensemble playing become more demanding.
Its quality maple construction and more comprehensive keywork give the developing musician an instrument capable of supporting increasingly sophisticated playing. Made from carefully seasoned Bosnian maple, the 1357 offers the warm, resonant tonal character associated with traditional German bassoon making, together with responsive playing characteristics and dependable keywork.
This is an instrument we particularly like for students who are progressing through examinations, school and youth orchestras and into more advanced repertoire. Rather than choosing a bassoon simply because it is labelled a student model, we believe it is important to choose an instrument with the tonal quality, response and build quality to allow the player to continue developing.
The 1357 features a more complete key system than many entry-level bassoons, including a high D key, right-thumb Aâ™ key and second Bâ™ key. Its silver-plated mechanism and carefully selected maple construction make it a substantial step up for the developing bassoonist.
