For centuries, civilizations have built citadels (walled fortresses) to defend their people from invaders. Some of these, such as Jerusalem, were as big as a city. This work, which draws its strength from pounding quavers, biting chords and rhythmic inflexions, explores the imagery of a strong, passionate yet fiercely protective community.
